- – - Nicholas Williams – - – school teacher, weightlifting aficionado and friend has been asking colleagues in our area to come and check-out one of his work-outs for a while. Last Friday, I decided to take him up on his offer and went to watch him lift. Nick is a pure athlete. Not only is his skill proof of the previous, but more importantly his dedication is what makes him so strong. In my case, lifting with Nick was like a penguin attempting to fly with an eagle – i.e – fail. While I am not hoping to start a career in this sport soon, I definitely got many tips which can be applied to my own work-outs. If you think you are tough, or can push some plates (meaning: lift weights) then take Nick up on his offer. This little excursion was also a great way for me to learn a bit more about the more rural areas of the prefecture I live in.

Regarding the sport of weightlifting, or any possible misinterpretations of it or Japan let me just apologize in advance. My goal of this short movie was just to show my friends and acquaintances as well as the youtube community a little bit about my life in Japan.

Why is it so difficult to get the latest Japanese fashions when living outside of Japan?

A recent article in the New York Times by Hiroko Tabuchi discusses the barriers that many Japanese designers have encountered with regards to “going global”.
